The DQ system opened restaurants for the first time in 34 new cities domestically, and internationally in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Guatemala and Singapore. The number of new restaurant openings represents a 40 percent increase over 2010 for DQ Grill & Chill locations and a 27 percent increase for DQ Orange Julius locations over the previous year.

The Dairy Queen® system, part of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A and BRK.B), today opened its 500th location in China and has plans to open more than 100 new restaurants there by the end of 2012.

The company has signed an agreement with franchisee Grupo Buen Rollo to open 15 locations throughout Guatemala by 2015. Owned by Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A and BRK.B), the Dairy Queen system also has 11 locations in the Central American country of Panama.

Dairy Queen® has signed an agreement with franchisee Al Safwa Food Group to open multiple locations in Saudi Arabia. The move into Saudi Arabia marks the 17th country outside of the U.S. and Canada where Dairy Queen will have a presence.
