Holiday Inn Leading Hotel Brand with More Than 240,000 Rooms

The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is the leading hotel chain worldwide. Not only in terms of number of guest rooms operated by all IHG hotel brands – also including the Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brands, IHG leads the overall Hotel Brand Ranking 2010 issued by tophotelchains.com. Ranked at 3rd place is the all-time-state-of-the-art brand Hilton, followed by the group’s own brand Hampton Inn.

“It’s surprising that a multi-brand hotel operator like Choice Hotels alone takes up five places in the Hotel Brand Ranking,” says Christian Berke, Sales Manager at tophotelchains.com. Other astonishing results of the study: Wyndham Hotel Group, No 2 of the largest hotel groups worldwide, ranks in 8th place with its Super 8 brand followed by the Hyatt brand, which is the ninth largest hotel group. The first European hotel brand appears on rank 10: Ibis by Accor. UK’s budget hotel brand Premier Inn comes in 21st place before Europe’s shooting Rezidor Hotel group with the Radisson Blu brand ranks 25th.
